Hopi Ear Candles
The natural alternative to ear syringing
Ear Candling has been practised by many ancient civilisations such
as the Aztecs, Greeks, Romans and Aborigines. It could also be found in
Italy, Spain and Romania where rolled tobacco leaves would be used.
There is a even a painting of ear candling on an ancient rock in the
Grand Canyon, USA.
In America, native Hopi Indians continue to practice many of their
ancient traditions including ear candling using rolled waxed leaves infused with
herbs. The modern candles are based on these principles
and comprise a hollow tube made from totally natural ingredients e.g.
cotton, beeswax, honey and camomile containing a filter to prevent any particles
from entering the ear during burning.
Treatment procedure:
The lit candles are gently placed in the outer ear and are held in position
by the therapist during the 10-15 minutes that each candle takes to burn down.
The candle is then removed and extinguished. The suction generated by the flame
encourages that movement of warm air through the candle and results in gentle
vibration on the eardrum, helping to remove wax and relieve pressure in the
nasal passages.A facial massage is given at the end of the treatment to improve
lymphatic and sinus drainage from the head.
Benefits:
Hopi Ear Candles can:
- Remove ear wax
- Reduce sinus congestion
- Improve lymphatic drainage
This therapy is very relaxing but the maximum benefit is obtained from
regular treatments.
Contraindications:
Hopi Ear Candle treatment cannot be given to anyone who has grommets or
perforated eardrums.
