Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a treatment take?

This will vary depending upon which treatment you have booked but the following list will give some approximate timings:

Reflexology - initial appointment 1 hour, subsequent appointments 45 minutes

Indian Head Massage/Hopi Ear Candles - initial appointment 45 minutes, subsequent appointments 30 minutes

Neck & Shoulder Massage - 15 minutes

Natural Facial - 1 hour

Do I need to remove any clothes?

For Reflexology you just need to remove your shoes and any foot covering. For Hopi Candles you do not need to remove any clothes. For Indian Head Massage you do not need to remove any clothes but it will be necessary for necklaces, earrings and glasses to be removed. For Natural Facials, you should wear a vest or strappy top to allow access to the shoulders and neck but please note that you will be covered with a blanket during this treatment.

Does Reflexology tickle?

No- the pressure used during this treatment is quite firm. Some areas may feel more sensitive than others but your comfort will be monitored throughout the session.

Are any personal details noted during the consultation?

You will be asked for some personal information including current or past health issues but all details are treated in the strictest confidence and are only used to ensure that the treatments are tailored to your individual requirements. You are welcome to review all notes and will be asked to sign the consultation form. For further details please click on the "Privacy Policy" menu button.

Is a Hopi Candle like an ordinary candle?

No. They are in fact hollow tubes made from cotton and beeswax but they look like a candle when lit.

Can I do a Hopi Candle treatment on myself?

It is not advisable to attempt to treat yourself with Hopi Candles since the candle must be maintained in an upright position while burning and they DO NOT extinguish themselves but instead, have to be removed from the ear and placed in cold water.

Does an Indian Head Massage include the use of oils?

The technique that I use is designed for use without oils however, I can incorporate a scalp massage using oil at the end of the treatment if required.

Do you only treat the head in an Indian Head Massage?

Despite the name, the routine includes the upper back, shoulders, ears, neck and upper arms together with the face and head.

I do not like my ears being touched - can these be left out of the routine?

The comfort of my clients is a top priority and if you find that the sensitivity in certain areas may reduce your enjoyment of the treatment and therefore, the full benefit, I can omit these areas.

Why is it called a "Natural" Facial?

This is because all of the products that are used are either plant or flower based and in most cases are organic. For instance, I do not use any 'branded' products but instead have a cleanser based on Aloe Vera and use organic flower water as a toner.

Are there any reasons why I could not have a treatment?

There are certain contraindications for all therapies and other medical conditions that may require written permission from your GP. Please see the "Contraindications" page for further information or contact me on 0800 612 9537 to discuss any concerns that you may have.

What qualifications do you have and are you insured?

I am insured through Embody, an organisation which includes the Complementary Therapists Association of which I am a member. Embody only provides insurance for therapists who have completed a recognised training course which meets strict criteria. I have a Diploma in Reflexology (Credit) from ITEC, an internationally recognised examining board. I qualified with Willow Lodge Therapies as a Hopi Ear Candle Practitioner. I have Diplomas in both Indian Head Massage and Natural Facials from Hands On Training.
